Given that the original Cylons were ruled by a kind of uber-mind, this is actually not a bad idea.
I like it a great deal. However, from the evidence in the show, Six the Cylon Seductress implies that their monotheistic power is to have predated and ruled over the Lords of Kobol, which would have to mean that it'd be an _old_ mind as well.
Still possible. Who's to say that BSGverse Earth isn't a ridiculously advanced post-Singularity empire in any case?
Something about the things that Boomer No. 3 said at the end of the September 9 episode suggest that they may be trying to wean or perhaps domesticate humanity sort of. If you've read Niven, kinda like the Puppeteers did with the Kzin.
